Membership Structure

Membership Benefits

Membership in ORCA provides the following key benefits:

  • Full online access to the Caries Research journal (current & past issues)
  • Option to purchase a print subscription to the Caries Research journal at a reduced cost
  • Full online access to the Monographs in Oral Science book series (current & past issues)
  • Registration to the annual ORCA Congress at a reduced cost (typically offsets the membership fee in its entirety)
  • Ability to attend Webinars
  • Opportunity to network with fellow researchers

Brief Overview

1. The membership in ORCA lasts from 01 January to 31 December each year.

2. Annual membership dues:

3. Invoices will be sent electronically through the ORCA website to all members early November for the following year.

4. Payment of the annual membership dues is required by 31 December. The membership in ORCA and all associated privileges will be suspended on 01 January the following year if no payment of dues has been received. Non-payment of dues 180 days after the first invoice was sent will result in membership termination and deletion of all membership information from ORCA’s website. Once the membership in ORCA has been terminated, a new membership application will be required to re-join ORCA.

5. The accepted payment options are PayPal and bank transfer (EU only).

6. ORCA does not allow for memberships to be suspended (e.g., due to sabbatical).

7. ORCA does not prorate membership dues.

Student Membership

Student membership in ORCA is for students currently enrolled for a degree at a recognized academic institution and who do not hold an academic appointment. Individuals may be classified at the Student Level for no more than 8 years. Student members are required to provide a certificate of enrollment as a student to the membership secretary by 10 Oct the year prior to membership renewal. Failure to provide a certificate will result in change of membership status to Full Member and a corresponding increase in membership dues.

Retired Membership

Only Full Members of ORCA after retirement from active employment in research/academia are eligible to apply for retired membership.

Honorary Membership

Full Members of ORCA who have made outstanding contributions to ORCA can be nominated by the Honorary Membership Committee to become Honorary Members after approval by the Board of ORCA and the General Assembly. Honorary Members do not pay any membership dues.

Application and Payment 

Applications must be received through the online form on this website and are considered by the membership committee once received. Payment of membership dues is required at the time of application.  

Fees will be different for countries with high income in comparison to countries with upper middle, lower middle and low income (according to the classification of the World Bank). Members from countries other than those with high income will pay 2/3 of the normal annual dues.
